Extending from the equivalent of 26mm (in 35mm format) to 520mm, it covers a magnification range of 20x and both optical and digital image stabilization are provided.

We obtained good - but not outstanding - colour accuracy in our Imatest tests on raw files that had been converted into TIFF format with the supplied Olympus Master 2 software, which has already been covered in our review of the E-420 DSLR. Saturation was shown to be very close to ideal and only minor shifts in hue and saturation levels were revealed. However, skin hues were not quite spot-on. ..." |

The beginning photographer will find it easy to start working with the camera and those who want to shoot more than just a snapshot will also find the Olympus SP-570 UZ an excellent tool. ...
From tests it turned out that a lot of improvements can be made still in this area, and due to this the Olympus SP-570 UZ does not belong to the best performing Megazoom models. If you accept these concessions, the Olympus SP-570 will offer you a lot of photographic fun and creative photography. ..." |

| Review (Summary): "Looking at the Olympus SP-570UZ, one notices a number of other improvements over the SP-560UZ. The grip has been enlarged and re-shaped, an SLR-like control wheel has been added, the on/off button has been replaced by a lever, a new switch and a button have appeared on the side of the lens barrel, the rear controls have been re-arranged, and the exposure compensation button has moved from the four-way pad to a place close to the shutter release. Even more importantly, the camera now sports a hot-shoe that accepts the same system flashes as Olympus' - and Panasonic's - DSLRs. ...
... In the heyday of 35mm film, the most common advice professional photographers would give to newbies was 'f/8 and be there'. With the Olympus SP-570UZ, it's more like 'anything-but-f/8 and be there'. The lens is remarkably sharp wide open and is best at around f/5.6, beyond which diffraction starts to eat away at fine detail, with f/8 being the worst aperture setting at all focal lengths. ..." |

... Image quality from the SP-570 is excellent indoors and out. Shooting outside produced clear and crisp images with very good exposures. The colors are crisp, vibrant and natural looking. Outdoor shooting can be a lot of fun with the 20x optical zoom lens. It has a 35mm equivalent of 26-520mm, which provides a level of versatility that is not matched by many other cameras. ..."

... Olympus is really hitting its optical limits with the SP-570 UZ. The lens struggles to perform well and there are countless instances of chromatic aberration, or purple fringing, throughout the pictures. Similarly the AF and image stabilization struggled at the far reaches of the telephoto end and I had several out of focus/ blurred shots. ..." |
